Fitment Sync is a Shopify app that lets shoppers find auto parts that fit their vehicle. This policy explains exactly what the app stores, why, and for how long.

The short version. Fitment Sync requests one permission: read access to your product catalog. It cannot read your orders, your customers, or your payment information, because it was never granted access to them. It does not store personal data about your shoppers.

What the app stores

Data	Why it is needed
Your shop domain `example.myshopify.com`	To keep each merchant's data separate.
Product catalog copy Product and variant IDs, SKU, handle, title	Fitment files reference parts by SKU or part number. The app needs a copy of your catalog to match those to the correct product in your store.
Fitment data you upload Vehicle year, make, model, submodel, part number, brand, position	This is the data the app exists to serve. It is yours; you upload it and you can replace or remove it at any time.
Import history File name, row counts, rows that could not be read	So you can see what changed, and answer "why isn't this part showing up?" without contacting support.
Access token	Issued by Shopify when you install the app. Used to read your catalog. Revoked automatically when you uninstall.

What the app does not store

Customer names, emails, addresses or phone numbers. The app has no permission to read them.
Orders. The app has no permission to read them.
Payment or card information. Billing is handled entirely by Shopify. The app never sees payment details.
Browsing history or behavioural tracking. The app sets no advertising or analytics cookies on your storefront.

The vehicle a shopper selects

When a shopper picks their vehicle, that selection is saved in their own browser using local storage, so they do not have to select it again on their next visit. It is not transmitted to Fitment Sync's servers and is not associated with any identity. Clearing browser data removes it.

Permissions requested

Scope	What it allows
`read_products`	Read product and variant details, so uploaded part numbers can be matched to products in your store. Read only — the app cannot modify your products.

No other scope is requested. If a future feature requires one, Shopify will ask you to approve it explicitly before it takes effect.

How long data is kept

While the app is installed: data is retained so the app can work.
When you uninstall: your session is ended immediately. Your fitment data is retained for a short period, so that reinstalling does not force you to import everything again.
48 hours after uninstalling: Shopify notifies the app, and all of your data — fitment rows, catalog copy, import history — is deleted permanently.

You can also remove your data at any time while installed, by replacing or clearing your fitment imports.

Who else sees this data

Fitment Sync does not sell data, and does not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Data is processed by:

Shopify — the platform the app runs on and the source of the catalog data.
The app's hosting and database provider — used to run the service and store the data described above.

Data may be disclosed if required by law, or where necessary to investigate abuse or protect the service.

Your rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the data described here. Because the app stores merchant data rather than personal data about individuals, most such requests are satisfied by uninstalling the app, which triggers deletion as described above.

Fitment Sync implements Shopify's mandatory data-request and data-deletion webhooks. Requests submitted through Shopify are handled automatically.

Security

All communication with Shopify and with the app uses HTTPS.
Access tokens are stored server-side and are never exposed to the storefront.
Requests from your storefront are signed by Shopify and verified before any data is returned.
Each merchant's data is isolated by shop domain on every query.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or how it is used, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Material changes will be communicated to installed merchants.
